Hey, I’m Huyen Tue Dao.

Devoted Developer

I am a Staff-level Android engineer.

I graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park, with a B.S. in Computer Engineering and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering.

I love software development and want to build beautiful experiences for people to use: experiences that are well-crafted, careful, maintainable, helpful, thoughtful, and delightful.

Mobile development and Android development, in particular, are my work and passions. I also have a deep love and enthusiasm for the Kotlin Programming Language.

Since 2016 I have been a Google Developer Expert.

Previously, I worked at Adobe, on the Trello Android app for almost 7 years, and as an independent contractor building web, Android, and iOS apps for 6 years.

Content Creator

I love the mediums of audio and video for conveying information in fun and understandable ways. I also just love talking to people, learning what great things they're doing, and learning who they are as human beings. Creating video and audio content has become a pastime and a passion especially when it comes to talking about tech and the people in it.

Android Faithful

Currently, I co-host the Android Faithful podcast, your weekly source for the latest news, hardware, and apps in the wide world of Android, with plenty of my developer commentary. My co-hosts, Ron Richards, Jason Howell, and I record every Tuesday at 17:00 PT / 20:00 ET.

Jason Howell, Mishaal Rahman, Ron Richards, and myself at Made by Google 2024.

Daily Tech News Show

I co-host the Daily Tech News Show, DTNS, on Thursdays with Tom Merritt and Fridays with Jason Howell where we go discuss the biggest tech news of the day and help each other understand.

Interviews

With my friend, Chiu-Ki Chan, I created the Android Dialogs YouTube channel where we talk to people in the Android community.

Since KotlinConf 2019, I have hosted the KotlinConfersations interviews series where I chat with some of the amazing speakers and attendees at KotlinConf.

The Android Show

Google produces a series of episodic video and livestream events as a way of announcing the latest in Android development and having conversations with the development community.

I have co-hosted the March 2022, Google I/O 2022, and Summer 2024 editions of #TheAndroidShow with Florina Muntensecu and John Zoeller as my co-hosts.

Serious Speaker

(just trying to stick with the alliteration)

Attending and speaking at conferences has been crucial to my growth professionally and fulfilling to me personally.

I would not be the engineer I am today without the efforts and knowledge put into the world by other community members, and I hope to pay that back in some small way by sharing my experiences, my mistakes, my joys, and my learnings.

Plus traveling and meeting incredible people are pretty fun.
